I have a confession!  I have struggled with my mindset over the last couple of weeks and let old ways of thinking creep back in and drag me down.  

I COMPARED MYSELF TO OTHERS FOR YEARS AND IT DESTROYED MY SELF-CONFIDENCE AND SELF-WORTH.

I used to be the athlete who lined up alongside my competitors at the start of the race, and thought I wasn’t as good as them.  

I used to constantly compare my training performance to others, leaving me feeling inadequate.

I worked hard on my mindset to keep these voices quiet, but the truth is they are always there.  Yes we all struggle!  

However, by focusing on these 7 things I have been able to free myself from these negative thoughts and feel good about myself again.

1. Focus on and be grateful for what I have.  

2. Focus on the positive and good in my life.

3. Be kind to myself.

4. Understand that I am in control of my life. It doesn’t matter what other people do or have. I am the one that matters.

5. Only compete against myself focusing on the best I can be.

6. Judge myself by my own standards not anyone else’s.  

7. Use comparison as motivation to improve what actually matters.  Only pay attention to those who inspire me to become a better version of me.

Working on your mindset is the most important thing you can do.

The reality is we all have negative thoughts sometimes.  What’s important is (a) being aware of them, and (b) how you deal with them.    Focus only on you, your achievements and goals if you want to lead a healthier, happier life.
