Pilates Matwork Classes

The classes focus on creating a balance in the body, strengthening the core postural muscles and working on co-ordination and stability.  Muscle imbalances that result from injury, prolonged postures, or inactivity are reduced leading to improved movement patterns, strength, posture and less likelihood of injury.

Pilates Matwork exercises rely upon your own body weight to provide the resistance for your muscles to work against enabling you to achieve a toned & lengthened body.  Small pieces of equipment will sometimes be used in the class such as soft balls, resistance bands, foam rollers or Yoga blocks to help emphasise or enhance the exercises.

There is a very important mind-body element in Pilates classes which helps to develop muscle memories and reconnect with long forgotten but very important muscles of the body!

Pilates classes with Heidi are not full of 20 people.  Classes are limited to 8 people so exercises taught can be specific to you with an emphasis on correct technique.  You can work on your own body using specific variations of an exercise under close supervision for maximal effectiveness.  


Beginner Pilates

All new clients start with the Beginner Pilates 4 week course or a 1 on 1 introductory class.

The classes will teach you the Pilates basic movements – the really important bits. We do everything for a reason in Pilates, and this course will help understand how and why you are doing it. Once you can apply the principles to your own body and develop mind-body awareness, you will no longer just go through the motions of movements in your own practice and everyday life.  I believe this is the key to better results no matter what your goal, be it health, performance or injury rehab.

Pilates Matwork Classes (mixed abilities)

The class is suitable for anyone who understands the principles of Pilates. The class will recap on the fundamental principles, and will provide some variations which will challenge as we build on the fundamentals.

Beginner Pilates Course run over 4 weeks After 4 weeks this group will start an 8 week block of Pilates for mixed abilities and I will run another beginners course for newcomers
